It's located 14 miles from the resort and is easily accessible from the gateway cities of San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), Los Angeles (LAX), Salt Lake City (SLC) and Denver (DEN - summer 2014). These cities are served by most major airlines and are met by Sun Valley’s connecting carriers: Alaska Airlines, Delta Connection (Operated by SkyWest) and United Express (Operated by SkyWest).

United Express

New Nonstop Route - San Francisco to Sun Valley

The new jet service runs daily from July 2 through September 23 for the 2014 summer season.

The flight schedule during summer season is:

SFO 5:30 pm --> SUN 8:21 pm
SUN 8:33 am --> SFO 9:29 am

New Nonstop Route - Denver to Sun Valley (summer 2014)

The new summer flight will run daily from July 2 – August 25 and 5 times per week from August 26 – Sept 23 and represents 5500 additional seats into Sun Valley for the 2014 summer season.

The flight schedule during summer season is:

DEN 7:15 pm --> SUN 9:03 pm
SUN 7:30 am --> DEN 9:11 am

 


Rental Cars 

Cars from Avis, Hertz, and Budget may be rented and dropped off at Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN) in Hailey, Idaho.

By Bus or Shuttle 

Daily shuttle service between Boise Airport (BOI) and the Sun Valley Lodge via Sun Valley Express.

Advance tickets may be purchased by calling Sun Valley Express at (877) 622-8267 / (208) 622-8267 or going online to www.sunvalleyexpress.com.  Tickets also may be purchased on the bus at time of departure on a space available basis.

 


Driving to Sun Valley

Driving to Sun Valley Resort offers an enjoyable ride through high desert and picturesque farmland with very little traffic.

From Boise Airport:

Head east on I-84 41 miles to the second exit for Mountain Home. Turn left on Hwy. 20 (a good spot for rest or refreshments). Continue on Hwy. 20 for 84 miles to the Hwy. 75 junction. Turn left on Hwy. 75 and continue for 25 miles to Main Street in Ketchum. Turn right (east) on Sun Valley Road. The Resort is one mile ahead.
Total: 151 miles (2hrs 50mins)

From Boise in inclement weather:

Take I-84 east 87 miles to the Bliss Exit. Take Hwy. 26 toward Gooding and Shoshone, about 27 miles. Turn left on Hwy. 75 at Shoshone. Continue 54 miles to Ketchum. Turn right (east) on Sun Valley Road. The Resort is one mile ahead.
Total: 169 miles (3hrs 10mins)

From Twin Falls Airport:

Take Airport Road east. Road turns into Washington, then Shoshone Street. Continue through downtown Twin Falls to the Five-point Intersection. Turn left on Hwy. 93 (Blue Lakes Blvd.).
Continue to the Perrine Bridge which crosses the Snake River Canyon. Continue on Hwy. 93 which will turn into Hwy. 75 at Shoshone. Continue 54 miles to Ketchum. Turn right (east) on Sun Valley Road. The Resort is one mile ahead.

How to get to and get around Sun Valley

Since 1936, skiers from all over the world have been saying that Sun Valley is definitely worth the trip. The resort is easily accessed from the gateway cities of Boise (ID), Seattle (WA), Los Angeles (CA), San Francisco (CA), Denver (CO) and Salt Lake City (UT). These cities are served by most major airlines, and are met by Sun Valley's two connecting carriers, Horizon Air and Skywest Airlines. Horizon Air also flies direct non-stop flights between Sun Valley and Los Angeles, and Seattle. Shuttle and van service is available from Boise, and the Ketchum Area Rapid Transit (KART) system provides free transportation throughout the valley, once you're here.
