Sun Valley’s Tree Lighting Ceremony includes Santa and a Huge Wine Sale!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year … especially now that Mother Nature has blessed Sun Valley with lots of fresh snow. It is definitely going to be a white and powdery Christmas in the heart of Idaho this year!
This Saturday night, December 17th, the Sun Valley Village will be dressed in the resplendent colors of the holidays as the magic of the Christmas season comes to life with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Santa will be there as well as the Sun Valley Carolers. And this year’s festivities will also includes great deals on wines from Sun Valley’s acclaimed wine list.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony is the true kick-off for the holiday season in Sun Valley and the beauty and excitement of the evening have made it part of my—and many other—family’s annual tradition. Everyone from the kids to the grandparents enjoy the splendor of Sun Valley’s Tree Lighting Cermonny.
To make the most out of this year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Sun Valley Village on Saturday evening, December 17, here’s a rundown of all that’s happening that delightful day.
Nancy Liston Trunk Show
10 am – 6 pm at the Signatures & Gifts in the Village
Signatures will offer a special showing of local artistry by Nancy Liston. The Trunk Show includes demonstrations and personalization done by the artist, a review of new winter designs and the release of the 2016 limited-edition Holiday ornament, as well as beautiful Sun Valley-themed ceramics, paintings and hand-dyed scarves.
Sun Valley Wine Sale
1– 7 pm at the Ram Room
The Sun Valley Wine Sale offers guest the opportunity to revisit wines from Sun Valley’s renowned wine lists. Over the years, Sun Valley has offered everything from, Châteauneuf du Pape and Syrah to Albariño and Rioja. Wines from around the world as well as from right around the corner (Idaho) will be available at a discounted price. There will be flights of Opus One available (92’- 95’ and 2001’-2004’), as well as limited selections great Bordeaux, Sauterne and Champagne. This is a great opportunity to pick something up for a holiday gift or simply find a gem that will be added to you cellar. Over 500 wines will be available for purchase, and shoppers must have proper identification and be at least 21 years of age.
Glassybaby Road Show
1– 6 pm in the Sun Valley Lodge Gift Shop
This special shopping event includes hand-blown collectible glass votives made in Seattle, and make exceptional gifts as well as offering a chance to shoppers to give back to local charities.
Wrap and Run to support Girls on the Run
2 – 8 pm at Sun Valley Signatures & Gifts
Free express gift-wrapping by Girls on the Run Wood River Valley for gifts purchased anywhere. 100% of the donations for wrapping will benefit the local chapter of this important and impactful non-profit organization.
Body Scrub Alchemy
3– 5 pm in the Sun Valley Spa
Create your own body scrubs with natural ingredients such as salt, sugar, essential oils and flower buds. It’s a great treat for you, or you can create luxurious gifts for family and friends. Prices range from $15 to $25 per bottle.
Tree Lighting Ceremony
Starting at 5:30 pm at the Sun Valley Village by the Sun Valley Inn
Santa Claus will be coming to town to help light up the trees in the Village and festivities also include ice carving displays, free cookies and hot cocoa, and a no-host outdoor bar.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony will also include performances by the legendary Sun Valley Carolers, which will be offering daily performances through December 27 throughout the Village and at various Sun Valley restaurants.
