There is no better way to improve your skiing or riding while keeping the fun-meter high than with the Sun Valley SnowSport School’s lessons or specialty programs
Some of the most popular specialty programs in Sun Valley are geared specifically for little shredders and are a great way to teach children skills, safety, and fun. There is something for every child.
The highly popular Spuds Alpine and Snowboard program keeps children in kindergarten through sixth grade learning, smiling, and improving. Three separate sessions meet for three consecutive weekends and the first begins January 2. Appropriate for children of all levels, Spuds is offered both on Baldy and Dollar and there is a morning session from 9:30 a.m. to noon and an afternoon session that runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Groups meet both Saturday and Sundays and work on skill building with an emphasis on mountain awareness and safety. Helmets are required and there are discount packages with lift tickets or passes available.
For the littlest skiers, from two-years-old to kindergarten, LittleSpuds is the place to be. There are still three sessions left of this program that is a favorite with locals with the next installment beginning January 5. Children will ski on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. for three consecutive weeks. Bring your budding skier to Dollar with skis, boots, goggles, and helmets and watch the amazing instructors begin to cultivate a lifelong love of the sport. An added bonus? Join LittleSpuds and receive a free Dollar children’s pass.
Kids and snow are meant to be together and there is no better way for the little ones to learn skills and mountain safety than with one of the amazing instructors from the SnowSports School
Older children, from 6 to 17 years old, have helped make the Sun Valley FreeRide program one of the most sought after on the hill. This 13-week session held on Saturdays (and one Sunday) offers skiers and riders 3 1/2 dedicated hours of high-energy skill development. The kids love being on the mountain with their friends while they master all kinds of terrain. FreeRide is already underway but please call to find out more about joining.
If you plan to be in town for a day, a week, or the season, our Children’s Camp Group Lessons are also a great option. The goal is for each child to reach his or her full potential in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Sun Valley’s highly trained, hand-picked instructors help develop skills and fundamentals, as well as confidence and love for the slopes. Lessons are offered daily in a camp setting, beginning at 9:45 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. The day includes four hours of on-snow instruction along with supervised breaks and lunch. Camps are conducted on both Dollar Mountain and at Bald Mountain depending on the child's age and ability.
For little ones, ages 2 to 4, the Kinder Cubs program is a great option. Curriculum includes both daycare and lessons with our pros and there are both four-hour morning and afternoon options (or full day). Each session includes an hour of ski instruction, lunch, lift tickets, rentals, and helmets.
