Skiing & Riding

We’re all winners on Baldy’s Bonus Weekend!

Thanks to the generous blessings of Mother Nature, Sun Valley is having the kind of ski season that most of us never want to see end.

Unfortunately, nothing can last forever. Fortunately, the good folks who run America’s original destination ski resort have decided to expand the season by a couple more days and end this year in style with a star-studded “Baldy Bonus Weekend!”

The Warm Springs side of Baldy will be re-opened from Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 23. The Bonus Weekend will include all kinds of fun festivities, including discounts on lift tickets and lodging.

Discount tickets are available for just $59 for adults, $39 for kids and $49 for seniors when purchased online at least three days in advance. Hurry--limited quantities are available at this price, so don't wait, get your tickets now! Season and Mountain Collective passes will also be honored.

Baldy Bash Lodging Specials
To help celebrate spring and the closing of a truly epic season, the Baldy Bash lodging deals basically reward you more the longer you stay and play. When you stay at the Lodge or the Inn during closing weekend you’ll get 10% off one night, 20% off two nights or 30% off three nights or more as well as save over 40% on the window rate lift tickets. Better yet, kids 12 & under ski free (based on a 2-night minimum stay) and one kid’s lift ticket is free with each paid adult lift ticket. The offer is available from April 21 - 23, 2017. For reservations, please call 1.800.SUN.VALY or 800.786.8259.

With one of the best snow packs in decades covering the slopes of Sun Valley, the skiing and riding alone will make the weekend wonderful—but that will only be part of the fun.

FRIDAY
Festivities kick off on Friday night as fan-favorites Sofa Kings will be playing the après hours (2:30-5:30pm) at Warm Springs Lodge.

The Sun Valley Opera house will host a “Baldy Bash from the Past” with Warren Miller. The bash will include two of the legendary filmmaker’s classic productions. At 5pm there’ll be a showing of Warren Miller’s 1976 film, "Skiing on my Mind.” At 7:30pm, the screen will light up with the infamous 1985 film, "Steep and Deep.” All showings are just $5.50. Tickets are available at the door and the Opera House will have its usual assortment of beer, wine, fresh popcorn and sweat treats.

The Sun Valley Clubhouse out Trail Creek Road doesn’t just have arguably the best views in the valley, its food has long drawn rave reviews, too. Chef Wendy Little is known for serving fresh meals featuring as much local and organic ingredients as possible. Chef Little will be preparing a 4-course meals on Friday night. The special "Full Moon Rising Dinner” at the Clubhouse are $59 per person (tax & gratuity not included). Reservations are required, to make yours, or for more information, please call 208.622.2919.

The `80s were a good time, especially if you like day-glow, music videos and big hair.  Friday night will flash back to that beloved decade for the 80s Cosmic Bowling Night at the Sun Valley Bowling Alley in the basement of the Sun Valley Lodge. Running from 7-10pm, enjoy one of America’s favorite pastimes in an 80s-themed atmosphere including fun lights, music and drinks. No reservations are required but space is limited. For more questions, please call the bowling alley at 208.622.2191.

SATURDAY
Saturday’s après ski scene at Warm Springs Lodge will feature Bread and Circus. The popular Boise-based band will have folks dancing in their ski boots from 2:30-5:30pm.

For those who went to the Full Moon Dinners at the Clubhouse or to 80s Cosmic Bowling Night, there’s a second chance to enjoy the “Baldy Bash from the Past.” The Sun Valley Opera House will be showing Warren Miller’s “Skiing on my Mind” which starts at 5pm, and “Steep and Deep” begins at 7:30.

The newly remodeled retro Bowling Alley in the basement of Sun Valley Lodge will again celebrate 80s Cosmic Bowling Night on Saturday night, from 7-10pm as well. And if you’re going to be in the Lodge, the Duchin Lounge has been a must-stop for a cocktail or a snack since the resort first opened in1936. There are also lots of great places to eat, drink and be merry throughout Sun Valley.

There’s no better way to start a day in Sun Valley than with some fresh pastries, coffee or a full breakfast or lunch at the Konditorei. Gretchen’s in the Lodge also offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chef Derek Gallegos has transformed the Lodge’s signature restaurant into one of the best dining experiences in Idaho. Bald Mountain Pizza and Pasta is fun for the whole family and a la Mode is the ideal spot to appease any sweet tooth.

SUNDAY
The final day in what has been a season to remember is Sunday, April 23. The Baldy Bash at the Warm Springs Lodge promises to be fun and festive. DJN8 will keep the vibes rolling as he spins tunes from 2:30-5:30pm.

With over 300” of snow so far this season, it’s the best snowfall year since the record was set in 2006.  So it’s only fitting that Sun Valley fans would want to send it off in style with a good bye (for now) bash.
