Make it a Valentine’s Day to Remember

If there’s one thing we love to celebrate around here it’s, well, love.

We love to drop everything else in life to carve turns to our hearts’ content during powder days on Baldy. We love to toast such days with drinks afterwards. We adore reliving such days during dinner with friends and family afterwards, often for years to come.

And if alpine skis or snowboards aren’t your forte, you can replace them with Nordic skis or fat bikes, a fly rod or day of shopping and gallery hoping, or simply just a relaxing day of lounging by the outdoor heated pools. Whatever you and your loved one fancy during the wintertime, it’s pretty easy to enjoy in our cozy little section of Idaho.

That’s why Sun Valley is the perfect place to celebrate the day dedicated to of love. To help, here are a few ideas to help you make this Valentine’s Day one to remember.

Treat Yourselves to some Spa Time

An ideal date for countless couples would include turns on Baldy, or a enjoying a few breathtaking kilometers on Nordic skis or Fat Bikes, and then after all the snow-centered fun, to hit the spa and the hot tub, before going out for a mouthwatering meal.

Now in it’s second season, the Spa at Sun Valley offers the prefect Valentine’s Day deal, Couples Massages. Nate Smuin is the assistant director for the Spa and said their unique Couples Massage Rooms were popular and a perfect way to transition from slopes into the dinner scene.

“They are very customizable. If you’ve been on the slopes all day we can work on any aches and pains, or you can go for a nice and relaxing massage,” Nate said that spa time is a treat for both partners in our active community.  “After a day of skiing, relax and unwind while we work those sore muscles.”

All Spa passes include access to the pool, hot tube, fitness facility, steam room and sauna. In addition to massage services, the Spa offers Body Treatments, Acupuncture, Nails and Make Up, Waxing and Full Salon Services.  Gift Cards also available.

Dinner and Drinks

Some of the country’s leading astrologers are predicting that there will be extra energy and importance attached to Valentine’s Day this year.  Luckily, the team at the country’s original ski resort is making sure there will be lots of ways to make sure it’s special.

Four of the legendary and most beloved restaurants in Sun Valley will be offering Valentines’ Day Specials.

In some ways the youngest Gretchen’s in the Sun Valley Lodge is the youngest of quartet. Named for Gretchen Fraser, the first American woman to win an Olympic Gold Medal for skiing, the restaurant elevated its menu and it’s look and feel when the lodge was remodeled in 2015. Thanks to Chef Derek Gallegos and his staff, Gretchen has become one of the best places to eat in Idaho.

Gretchen’s Valentine’s Day Special is a Four-Course Wine Pairing and Chef’s Tasting Menu for $140/ couple.

More than 62% of Americans celebrate Valentine’s Day—but very few can say they will do so at the historic Roundhouse on Baldy Mountain, or will have a gondola ride included with their meal.

The Roundhouse always offers a memorable and delicious meal in its exceptionally unique setting, nestled  8,000 feet high in the mountains in a circular wooden structure that was originally built in 1939. But things get especially romantic and magical during special times like Valentine’s Day when a rather important question is known to get asked – besides, of course, “What would you like for dessert?”

The Roundhouse Valentine’s Special is a 6 Course Chef’s Tasting Menu with champagne greeting for $250/ couple.

The Ram Bistro is located in the Sun Valley Inn and while its patio is popular in the summer months, in the winter, fans of the Ram enjoy the cozy and rustic vibe of a restaurant known for its tasty Idaho-themed fare, great views and the talents of Larry Harshbarger on the piano.

The Ram will be offering a Five-Course Chef’s Tasting Menu with a Wine Pairing Option for $140/ couple.

Originally built in 1937, Trail Creek Cabin is one of the most romantic dinning experiences you’ll ever find. The cozy log cabin is perched along Trail Creek in the midst of a high alpine meadow surrounded by the snowy ridgeline of the Boulder Mountains. Chef Adam Fisher’s menu features hearty mountain fare focused on the best meats and produce available each season.

The Trail Creek Cabin is offering a Six-Course Chef’s Tasting Menu with Champagne Greeting for $180/couple.

Please their Sweet Tooth with Chocolate Delights

The Konditorei is beloved for its incredible pastries and German-style food and décor, but the restaurant is also rather famous for its chocolates.

Once again this year, the Konditorei will be offering both Champagne and Strawberry orders (A bottle of Veuve Cliquot and Milk Chocolate Covered Long Stem Strawberries) and their Chocolate Box and Truffles (A Half-dozen Handmade Truffles inside a Box made of White Chocolate). Stop by the Konditorei in the Sun Valley Village or call 208.622.2235.

You can also stop by the Sun Valley Chocolate Foundry in the Village to load up on everything from fresh chocolate and fudge to a wide variety of candy treats sure to please any sweet tooth. Call 208.622.2147 for any questions.

So don’t forget, if you’re looking to make this Valentine’s Day one to remember, then Sun Valley has got you covered.
