Party the Season Away at Warm Springs

It is that bittersweet time of year as closing day on Baldy looms large. An epic ski and riding season is nearly over but there is much to celebrate and there is no place better to do that than at the base of Warm Springs this weekend. The lifts on Warm Springs won’t stop running until Sunday afternoon, April 17, but be sure to get the party started on Saturday and celebrate Sun Valley’s 80th winter season. This weekend is the time for our community to commemorate great times on the snow.

It’s time to end the snow season on a high note. The party will be at the base of Warm springs and it will last all weekend.

The party spills onto the streets on Saturday afternoon when Picabo Street at the base of Warm Springs closes to traffic and opens up to revelers. The amazing Harry Lee and the Back Alley Blues band will provide the soundtrack to a great party from 12 - 3 pm followed by the Emily Stanton Band from 3 - 6 pm.  Enjoy a day of memorable spring skiing including the pop up terrain park on Lower Hemingway, and then join the crowd for music, food, and drinks with friends.

The Wood River Valley can’t pass up the chance for a costume party and closing weekend on Baldy is always a feast for the eyes. Whether you are six or 66, don your favorite look and make a day – and a night -- of it. The whole weekend at Warm Springs is fun and festive. Be sure to grab that last beverage or meal on the deck of the lodge, turn your face to the sun, and raise a glass with friends to the season that was.

Closing weekend is always a party in Sun Valley complete with costumes, music, food and fun.

Not from the Wood River Valley but love to ski or board? If you hold a season pass from any other resort, come to Baldy and be a part of the fun. Sun Valley will offer a 50 percent discount on lift tickets on April 16 and 17 to any season pass holders. Normally ski Bogus or Jackson or Brundage? Come out to Baldy and get in some last runs on a tremendous mountain at a great price.

On Sunday, the season winds down in earnest on the terrace of the Warm Springs Lodge with a performance from Black Market III from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. This California based band’s mixture of blues, American roots, Rock and Grease Punk is sure to get the crowd on its feet. Dancing in ski boots is always pretty fun.

Be sure to get in those last great turns on Saturday and Sunday before Baldy closes and everyone starts to look ahead to an amazing summer.

Looking ahead to next season? 2016-17 winter season mountain passes are on sale now. It is a great time to purchase the Sun Valley Resort or Mountain Collective season pass, with early-bird pricing. For more in information or to purchase a pass, please click here.  Having your pass set for next season will make the end of this easier to deal with!

Check out the live music and party vibe this weekend while celebrating our amazing mountain culture and the season that was.

What a season it was. With storm after storm dumping nearly 220 inches of snow on our valley starting in November, winter was the gift that kept on giving. And Sun Valley made the most of every flake that fell. The 2015-16 season saw Sun Valley receive national attention as the host of the U.S. Alpine Nationals in March where the best downhill racers tore down our slopes and inspired all of us. The next generation of freestyle stars competed on Baldy and Dollar at the Freestyle Junior Nationals, skiing the bumps and riding the jumps. Programs for locals, from Spuds and FreeRide for the kiddos, to Divas and Mountain Masters for the adults encouraged everyone to be an active part of our mountain culture and this amazing place we visit or live in. Thank you Sun Valley for a tremendous season of the best grooming, snowmaking, teaching, coaching, and fun.

Get out there this weekend and be a part of the good times. There’s still plenty of skiing and riding – and partying – to do!

The holidays in Sun Valley are unique. From the snow-covered peaks (and ski runs!) that surround the Wood River Valley, to the old-fashioned charm of the Sun Valley Village and the decidedly European feel of the Resort, Christmas in Sun Valley is straight out of a beloved picture book. I have spent more than 30 Christmases in Sun Valley and while I certainly appreciate all that the Resort does to keep current (our amazing snowmaking and grooming, the gorgeous Lodge remodel, The Spa, and new
