No question about it – it was a spectacular summer in Sun Valley. Chances are you spent (and are still spending) hours and hours outdoors enjoying this amazing place: hiking, biking, rafting, golfing, swinging a tennis racket, and so much more. It was a busy winter filled with carving, riding and playing in the snow and the upcoming summer season will be chock-a-block with outdoor adventures, concerts, food and fun of every stripe! But before the busy season hits, now is the time to reboot, recharge and take the time to focus on staying healthy and finding joy in everyday. Thankfully for all of us, the annual Sun Valley Wellness Festival is just around the corner and this long weekend offers countless ways to rejuvenate mind, body and soul. From May 22 – 25, the Sun Valley Village will be alive with inspiring speakers, workshops, movement classes, an Experience Hall and much more. There is no better way to revive, recharge and maybe even revise your way of thinking than at this perennially popular festival.
In its 18th year, the four-day event straddles spring and early summer, bringing the most interesting, sought after and inspiring speakers and practitioners to the Sun Valley Resort, offering something for everyone. This is one of the premier wellness events in the nation.
The charming Sun Valley Village is headquarters for the highly anticipated 18th annual Sun Valley Wellness Festival
Nearly 50 events run from morning to evening over the course of the weekend, all designed to “inspire positive change” in body, mind, spirit and environmental awareness according to event organizers. The festival also looks to increase the body of science-based knowledge in its offerings. The general emphasis for this festival? Balancing lives with a broad range of information so that everyone can enjoy his or her individual gifts and greatest potential.
The lineup is impressive to say the least. This year’s keynote speaker is author Elizabeth Gilbert who will present on “Big Magic: Thoughts on Creative Living” on Friday, May 22 at 6 p.m. in the Limelight Room. Gilbert’s memoir Eat, Pray, Love has been called “a generation’s instruction manual” by the Toronto Sun and this talk is sure to sell out so get your tickets or pass now.
Bestselling author Elizabeth Gilbert will deliver the keynote address at the Festival. The topic: magic
According to the author, “This speech is unabashedly about magic. About seeking it, summoning it, believing in it, and making a life out it. In my case this has happened through writing, but for others magic might be found in something else entirely. My talk will be an encouragement to embrace completely irrational but beautiful notions of kismet and coincidence, of hidden messages and true paths. And out of the belief in magic comes a strange shining confidence, far more exciting to inhabit than self-doubt, fear, and uncertainty.”
Mark Nepo will also present a keynote address in addition to offering a workshop over the weekend. This #1 bestselling New York Times author of The Book of Awakening has inspired millions with his work that draws on his awakening through cancer to offer life lessons from all spiritual traditions. His address, “Heartwork: Being a Spirit in the World” will take place at the Continental Room on Sunday, May 24, at 7 p.m. It is sure to be a thought provoking evening. Nepo will also facilitate a workshop centering on the theme of Finding Inner Courage on Monday, May 25, at 9:30 a.m. in the Continental Room.
Mark Nepo will inspire at the Festival with both a keynote address and a workshop
Panache Desai will speak on Living a Soulful Life: Practical Tools for Mastering the Material World on Saturday, May 23. This presentation will be held in the Continental Room at 7 p.m. Desai will help others discover how to apply essential spiritual truths to further the momentum of their material existence and live a joyous, soulful life. Following the keynote address Desai and Grammy Award winning artist J. Ivy will host a dance party in the Boiler Room.
In addition to the wonderful presentations and workshops, festival participants can hike in Sun Valley’s glorious mountains, enjoy a yoga class, or spend quality time in the Experience Hall where they can explore photography, nutrition, jewelry, crystals, fashion, books and much more.
