Now Bring Us Some Figgy Pudding … and much more

When you think of the Christmas holiday season, chances are you think about food! Festive meals spent with friends and family are often a large piece of the cozy patchwork quilt of what makes a holiday truly memorable. In December, Sun Valley makes it easy to enjoy the freshest, most seasonal and delicious fare both in a traditional restaurant setting and in myriad unique, only-in-Sun Valley ways. This second part in a three-part series about getting the most our of the Sun Valley holiday food experience, right through New Years' Day, directs you to some of the highlights. There is no place like Sun Valley for the holiday season

Christmas is truly a magical time in Sun Valley and the Resort offers some special ways to celebrate - all involving wonderful food.

On December 21, the countdown begins in earnest with High Tea at the Sun Valley Clubhouse. From 3 - 5 p.m., this beautiful space will take on the ambience of a classic London tearoom serving tea sandwiches, scones and petit fours along with a traditional tea service. To add to the festivity, champagne cocktails will be available as well. Live music will put the finishing touch on the experience. The cost is $35 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under. The Sun Valley Clubhouse is spectacular during the holidays

For the adults, on December 23, the Ram Lounge at the Sun Valley Inn will offer a wine tasting from 4 - 5p.m. Four sublime wines from around the world, paired with delicious taste treats, will be offered for $20 per person. The Ram Restaurant is both cozy and elegant - perfect for a memorable night out

Ho, ho, ho! Children of all ages will love Brunch with Santa at the gorgeous Sun Valley Clubhouse on December 23 and 24 from 9 am to 1 pm This is a wonderful way to catch Santa and secure those critical Christmas photos before he sets off from the North Pole on Christmas Eve. Chose from a three-course a la carte brunch menu that will delight every palate, including the youngest merrymakers. The price of $35 for adults and $21 for children also includes a bountiful artisan pastry selection, fresh juices and bottomless coffee. The wonderful tradition continues! Imagine Christmas dinner more than 7,000 feet above sea level at Roundhouse Restaurant

The way to really enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day without the cooking, the clean up and the worry is to let the professionals prepare the perfect meal! Sun Valley will help accomplish this at five favorite very special Resort restaurants.

The Ram Restaurant in the Village will serve dinner on the 24th and 25th in a cozy and warm yet sophisticated environment. This prix fixe four-course meal is $68 for adults and $34 for children not including tax and gratuity. Be sure to make time before or after dinner to enjoy a cocktail or nightcap at the Ram Lounge.

Perched two-thirds up Bald Mountain, dinner at the Roundhouse Restaurant is a one-of-a-kind experience. For the holiday, this classic rustic space with the best view imaginable is serving a prix fixe, four-course meal on the 24th and 25th for $75 for adults and $25 for children, not including tax and gratuity.

A night on Baldy at Roundhouse will be merry, bright and white

At the spacious and welcoming Elkhorn Clubhouse, a traditional holiday buffet will be served on the 24th from 6 - 9 pm Diners will enjoy a full complement of the best holiday foods including prime rib, roast goose and Yorkshire pudding. The cost is $65 for adults and $30 for children 12 and under and does not include tax and gratuity.

A sleigh ride to historic Trail Creek Cabin may be the ultimate way to spend Christmas Eve or Christmas Day dinner. Horse drawn sleighs leave from the Sun Valley Inn and wend through the Sun Valley golf course before arriving at the cabin a half hour or so later. Dinner awaits: a prix fixe four-course meal that costs $149 for adults and $89 for children including sleigh ride, dinner, tax and gratuity. Please call (208) 622-2135 for reservations.

Over the river and through the woods, off to a fabulous Trail Creek Cabin meal you go

If you prefer to keep things simple, the wonderful Konditorei Cafe in the Sun Valley Village has your number on the 24th and 25th for dinner. Stop by this gorgeous space to enjoy a special a la carte Christmas menu and, of course, some of their amazing European style pastries. No reservations are required.

Don't forget that now is the time to also secure reservations for New Years’ Eve. Trail Creek Cabin will offer their sleigh ride and dinner that night as will Roundhouse. Toast 2015 at Roundhouse for $85 per person not including tax and gratuity (or bubbles!). Ring in the New Year at Trail Creek Cabin for $149 for adults and $89 for children including the sleigh ride, dinner, tax and gratuity.

Roast turkey, ham, goose; delectable sides; pies and cakes and baked goods; mulled wine, hot cider. Part of what makes the holidays special is food to savor and meals to remember. In Sun Valley, though, this experience is enhanced by views from the Roundhouse, a horse drawn sleigh ride to Trail Creek, a table at the lovely Ram, a casual meal at the Konditorei, brunch with Santa, high tea and so much more!
