The holidays in Sun Valley are unique. From the snow-covered peaks (and ski runs!) that surround the Wood River Valley, to the old-fashioned charm of the Sun Valley Village and the decidedly European feel of the Resort, Christmas in Sun Valley is straight out of a beloved picture book. I have spent more than 30 Christmases in Sun Valley and while I certainly appreciate all that the Resort does to keep current (our amazing snowmaking and grooming, the gorgeous Lodge remodel, The Spa, and new
On Tuesday, August 30, the Sun Valley Pavilion and the lawn beyond will be filled with some of the greatest country music ever written and recorded when the incomparable Vince Gill and Amy Grant take to the stage. The legendary couple will perform some of America’s favorite songs in a special concert sponsored by Sun Valley Resort and Sinclair Oil.
Gill is one of the most popular singers and songwriters in country music history. He also plays a pretty mean guitar and when he adds his soaring tenor, the audience will most likely swoon. Grant was the original fresh-faced teen out of Nashville bringing Christian music to the forefront of American culture. As her career evolved, she created and performed hit after hit, morphing genres and capturing a widespread audience. This evening of great music promises performances from many musical genres including country, folk, gospel, western swing, and pop.
The legendary couple Amy Grant and Vince Gill are sure to delight Pavilion audiences with a wonderful concert in a venue like no other
With one of the most identifiable voices in the industry, Gill has won fans all over the world. And hits including “One More Last Chance,” “Whenever You Come Around,” “I Still Believe in You,” and “Go Rest High on that Mountain,” have won him Grammy Awards, Country Music Association Awards, and Academy of Country Music honors. He has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for a quarter of a century and has produced 18 studio albums, from his first, Turn Me Loose in 1984 to his most recent, Down to My Last Bad Habit.
Grant has also built a successful and long career in the industry with her signature style and focus on singing “songs that matter”. Her awards and accolades are numerous and include six Grammy Awards and numerous Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, as well as three multi-platinum albums, six platinum albums, and four gold albums. She’s achieved 10 Top 40 pop singles and placed 17 hits on the Top 40 Adult Contemporary chart as well as scoring numerous hits on the contemporary Christian charts.
The soaring and romantic Sun Valley Pavilion will be the backdrop for Gill and Grant’s signature musical style
Gill and Grant met in 1993 recording a video for their duet that was the title track on Grant’s album, “House of Love.” They married in 2000, creating a blended family with their children from their first marriages. To the great delight of fans, they have also often blended their careers and enjoy performing together.
The Pavilion concert will begin at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m. Lawn seating is currently available, as are very limited Pavilion seats. Don’t wait to secure your tickets. If you choose the lawn option, you won’t miss a minute of the concert with Sun Valley’s state-of-the-art sound system and Jumbotron. Be sure to bring your picnic blankets, low back chairs (if a basketball can fit beneath, it’s too tall …) and some snacks. Sun Valley will have a full bar on site serving cocktails, wine and beer, and soft drinks.

There are still plenty of summer concerts on the horizon, including a highly anticipated appearance by Foreigner at the Pavilion
And though the summer is winding down, there is still plenty of music in the mountains left to enjoy. Foreigner will rock the Pavilion on August 20 as part of the Killebrew-Thompson Memorial Golf Tournament. Doors open at 7 p.m. Then on September 2, Sun Valley Opera presents Kelli O’Hara and Nathan Gunn accompanied by the American Festival Orchestra. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the concert starting at 7:30 p.m. On September 5, Lukas Nelson and the Real perform at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. The final Sun Valley Center for the Arts Summer Concert takes place tomorrow, August 17, when Lake Street Dive & Gregory Alan Isakov take the stage at River Run Lodge.
The opportunity to hear Vince Gill and Amy Grant perform framed by mountains, big sky, and an Idaho summer sunset is one you shouldn’t miss. Chances like this are as scarce as the perfect romance as can only be described in a country music tune.
