Sun Valley Resort is incredibly grateful for our loyal season pass holders and their continued support. During these unprecedented times of public health and economic concern, we are offering an even greater commitment to provide the best service to our valued guests. We are pleased to announce the following benefits for our season pass holders and community this season:

Pass Protection Program
Provides assurance to protect season pass holders from future personal or community hardships. Covered events include a mandated resort closure, stay at home orders, personal injury, military service or pregnancy. There is no additional cost for the pass protection program. Refunds are based on the amount of days skied and date of the request. See below for more details. 


20% Renewal Discount or Free Lift Ticket 
Due to the early closure of the 2019-20 season to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are providing a one-time 20% discount on season pass renewals for the 2020-21 season. To be eligible, guests must have had an active Challenger (Adult, Young Adult, Youth), 15 Day Plus, Freedom Found Plus, Early/Late, Sun & Snow (Adult, Child, Child Add-on), College Season Pass, Adult or Child Dollar Season Pass during the 2019-20 season. 2019-2020 Season Pass Holders were sent a promotional code by email. Those who choose not to renew will have a single-day lift ticket loaded to their pass for next season. Blackout dates apply from Dec. 26 - Jan. 1, Jan. 16 - 18 and Feb. 13 - 15. Eligible pass holders may renew with the 20% discount here.


Charitable Fund
Pass holders eligible for a renewal discount have the option to donate the discount amount to benefit The Hunger Coalition. Sun Valley will match the donations to this organization up to $10,000. Eligible pass holders may renew their pass and donate their discount here. If you have already renewed at full price, see the 'Refund Request Information' tab below. 



NEW: Pass Protection Program 

Protecting you if your season is cut short due to personal injury, pregnancy, military service or a stay at home order. It also protects against mandated resort closures and other non-weather causes. 

If your personal coverage event occurs, you may be eligible to the following refunds by request date and quantity of days skied. 

•80% Refund: December 15, 2020 | 5 days or less skied.
•50% Refund: January 15, 2021 | 10 days or less skied.
•30% Refund: February 15, 2021 | 15 days or less skied.
•20% Refund: March 15, 2021 | 20 days or less skied.

•If your personal event and request occured after March 15, 2021, or if you have skied 21 days or more during the season you are not eligible for a refund. Documentation may be required for refunds based on personal events.

What is the Sun Valley Pass Protection Program?

If any of the following happens over the course of the 2020-2021 ski season, you may be eligible for a full or prorated refund. The anticipated 2020-2021 season runs from November 26, 2020 to April 11, 2021, pending conditions. There is no cost for the pass protection program - it is automatically included with the purchase of a Challenger (Adult, Young Adult, Youth), 15 Day Plus, Freedom Found Plus, Early/Late, Sun & Snow (Adult, Child, Child Add-on), College Season Pass, Adult or Child Dollar Season Pass.

What is considered a personal event?

•Injury or Illness preventing you from skiing or riding for the remainder of the season •Pregnancy •Military Service •Stay at home order from county, state, or country

What is considered a Full Resort Closure between November 26, 2020 and March 31, 2021?

If Sun Valley Resort is unable to open or remain open due to mandated closures of non-weather related events. An example would be the ski resort is ordered to close by state officials for public health reasons.

What Passes are eligible for the Sun Valley Pass Protection Program?

Challenger (Adult, Young Adult, Youth), 15 Day Plus, Freedom Found Plus, Sun & Snow (Adult, Child, Child Add-on), and Adult & Child Dollar Season Passes are eligible for the pass protection program.

What will my refund be for a personal event?

You may be eligible for the following amounts:

What will my refund be for a resort closure?

Assuming Sun Valley Resort is forced to close as outlined above the percentage of the season closed will be refunded back to you. If Sun Valley Resort were forced to close with 20% of the ski season remaining you would be eligible for a 20% refund at the end of the 2020-21 season. Those who have skied 20 days or less would be eligible.

What happens if the resort is closed for the entire 2020-21 season?

If Sun Valley Resort is not able to open as outlined above from November 25th, 2020 through March 31st, 2021 you would be eligible for a 100% refund at the end of the 2020-21 season.

What happens if my personal event occurs, however I have exceeded the amount of days skied for the request date?

If your quantity of days skied exceeds the limits listed in the personal event request date, you will be moved into the refund tier where your amount of days skied falls under. For example, if you make your personal event request on December 14, 2020 but you have skied 5 days, you would qualify for a 80% refund. Anyone that has skied 6 or more days will not be eligible for a refund.

How do I submit a refund request?

We obviously hope you get the most out of your season pass purchase. If you feel you meet one of the personal coverage scenarios please email our team at We will respond to your email in the order it was received. Supporting documents (such as a note from a physician for an injury) may be requested by our team and refunds will be determined and issued. Should Sun Valley Resort be forced to close as outlined above we will provide guidance on how to proceed.

Season Pass Renewal Discount FAQs
I am a 2019-20 Sun Valley Season Pass Holder. What is being done to address the shortened season?

For 2019-20 Sun Valley season pass holders, Sun Valley is offering a one-time 20% renewal discount as our appreciation of your loyal support. Guests can receive this discount by entering the promotional code sent by email. Guests also choose to donate their discount to the Hunger Coalition.

I already renewed my season pass for the 2020-2021 season. Will I be refunded the amount of the renewal discount?

Yes, renewing season pass holders who already purchased their pass for the 2020-2021 season will receive this one-time 20% renewal discount. Guests may select to receive this refund to the card used when purchasing, or to donate this amount to the Hunger Coalition. Please note our season pass office is operating with limited staff. If eligible, we will begin processing your one-time 20% refund after receiving submission of the refund form. If you do not fill out the form by the end of June, we will automatically begin processing a refund to the card used when purchasing.

What will happen if Sun Valley is unable to open for the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19?

At this time Sun Valley Resort plans to open for the winter season on November 26, 2020 pending conditions. We will provide any updates as winter approaches on our website and social media channels.

Do I have to purchase the same pass type for the 2020-2021 season to receive the offered discount? Can I buy more passes?

You can change your pass type or add additional passes and still receive the one-time 20% discount. The 20% discount off the transaction will be applied on the payment screen after entering your promotional code.

How do I receive the promotional code for the renewal discount?

2019-20 pass holders were emailed with the 2020-21 renewal discount code. If you did not receive this or have questions about your eligibility, please contact us at

When do season pass prices increase?

Current season pass prices have been extended and are valid until the end of September. Prices increase on October 1, 2020.

How long is my promotional code valid?

Promotional codes are valid until November 24, 2020 and expire on Sun Valley's anticipated opening day of November 26, 2020, pending conditions. It can be used one-time and will still be valid after prices increase on July 1, 2020 and will continue to take 20% off the future total price of our passes.

I bought a Sun and Snow pass for the 2019-20 season and have unused days. Is this pass eligible for the renewal discount?

Yes, Sun & Snow Pass holders may also receive a one-time 20% discount on next seasons pass by utilizing the promo code emailed to pass holders.

I'm not renewing my season pass. Can I share my discount code with friends or family?

No, only pass holders from the 2019-20 season may use the promotional code. All transactions will be reviewed and guests who are not eligible that purchase with a discount code will be contacted for full payment.

I am donating my refund/discount to the charitable fund. Is this a tax-deductible donation?

We can not guarantee that the charitable donation is tax deductible, however we will provide a record of guests that donate and the dollar amount to each organization. If you would like to request a receipt, please contact each charity individually.

If I already have a roll over credit from the previous season can I use it with my 20% renewal discount for a new pass in the 2020-21 season?

Yes, we will apply the 20% discount off the pass renewal and use your credit towards the existing balance. However, roll over credits have no cash value and are only issued for next ski season. Should your credit be more than the discounted purchase price of your 2020-21 season pass, we will process your pass and any remaining roll over balance will be forfeited.

What is being done for pass holders from last season that do not wish to renew their pass?

A one-day lift ticket for the 2020-21 season, valued at $145, will be loaded onto your previous season pass. Any pass holder from 2019-20 that has not renewed by November 26, 2020, the expiration date for the 20% refund discount, will receive this ticket. You do not need to enter the ticket line and can take your previous season pass to the lift to utilize this. It is valid for any day during the 2020-21 season.

Where do I find my discount code?

Codes were emailed to eligible guests. To be eligible, guests must have had an active season pass during the 2019-20 season. Eligible pass types include: Challenger (Adult, Young Adult, Youth), 15 Day Plus, Freedom Found Plus, Early/Late, Sun & Snow (Adult, Child, Child Add-on), College Season Pass, Adult or Child Dollar Season Pass.

Eligible guests that renewed their pass at full price will receive a one-time 20% refund in the amount listed below per 2020-21 season pass type purchased.

We will begin processing your refund upon completion of the form. Guests that did not make a selection by September 1, 2020 automatically received the one-time 20% refund issued to their card.
