Sun Valley Center for the Arts Presents: St. Paul & the Broken Bones with special guest North Mississippi Allstars

Monday, June 25, 7:00 pm | Sun Valley Pavilion

The first concert in the series features St. Paul & the Broken Bones with special guest North Mississippi Allstars. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, and led by vocalist Paul Janeway, St. Paul & the Broken Bones is an eight-piece soul-based rock band. Frequently compared to Otis Redding and backed by an incredible band with a horn section, Janeway’s irrepressible stage presence will have the Sun Valley Pavilion crowd up and dancing all night. No stranger to big stages, St. Paul & the Broken Bones have played Coachella and opened for the Rolling Stones.

Opening the night will be the North Mississippi Allstars, a trio based in Hernando, Mississippi. With brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson in the lead, this southern rock and blues band will get the summer concert series off to a rollicking start.

Tickets are available HERE.

Race starts at Warm Springs Plaza (elevation 5,894' ft) goes immediately up the legendary Warm Springs ski run.  The relentless climb taunts you as you push for relief on the final headwall of the Warm Springs ski run before reaching the Lookout Restaurant (9000’ ft). Another 150 feet on a mellow service road gets you to the true summit of Bald Mountain (elevation 9,150) where you’ll be greated by sweeping views of 5 mountain ranges and an abandoned Forest Service lookout.

Now the real fun begins, you'll push the Bald Mountain ridge with amazing views in all directions.Once you reward yourself, summiting Bald Mountain (9,150' ft), you will begin your descent down to the Broadway Saddle via the Bowl Lane Service Road, where you’ll drop into a descent of the Broadway ski run to the Seattle Ridge chairlift (elevation 7392’ ft). A brief, 1 mile, 300 ft climb will bring you to the Resort’s historic Roundhouse Restaurant.

From the Roundhouse Restaurant, you’ll begin the singletrack descent on the Roundhouse Connector trail to the Bald Mountain Trail. As you descend the Bald Mountain trail through big Aspen groves and pine trees, you'll see views of both base areas and the mountain town of Ketchum, descending on amazing single track. A brief service road traverse will bring you to the Warm Springs trail, a cruisy, shaded 8% singletrack descent crossing back and forth under the famous Challanger chairlift toward the Warm Springs base area where you started. As you approach the base area, you'll hear the music and good times bumping as you near the finish line, back where you started. Please stay on marked & established trails at all times, be courteous of your day hikers out enjoying nature on the same trails.

Wednesday, August 22, 6:00 pm | River Run Lodge

Closing out the summer concert series is Baldygrass One-Night Music Fest featuring The Infamous Stringdusters, Kuinka and AHI. This lineup combines bluegrass, Americana and an up-and-coming indie-soul artist to create a musical night that can’t be missed.

The Infamous Stringdusters are a leading light in bluegrass music who constantly push the boundaries for themselves and the genre. Though bluegrass is known for traditionalism, the ‘Dusters have consistently covered new ground, inspired fans and redefined what a bluegrass band can be. Playing everything from originals, traditional songs and completely unexpected covers of songs like “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk and The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven,” this band leaves no stone unturned in connecting with audiences young and not-so-young. Winners of the 2017 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album, the ‘Dusters are recognized in the musical world and by their fans as outstanding performers and musicians.
