Sun Valley Center for the Arts Presents: St. Paul & the Broken Bones with special guest North Mississippi Allstars

Monday, June 25, 7:00 pm | Sun Valley Pavilion

The first concert in the series features St. Paul & the Broken Bones with special guest North Mississippi Allstars. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, and led by vocalist Paul Janeway, St. Paul & the Broken Bones is an eight-piece soul-based rock band. Frequently compared to Otis Redding and backed by an incredible band with a horn section, Janeway’s irrepressible stage presence will have the Sun Valley Pavilion crowd up and dancing all night. No stranger to big stages, St. Paul & the Broken Bones have played Coachella and opened for the Rolling Stones.

Opening the night will be the North Mississippi Allstars, a trio based in Hernando, Mississippi. With brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson in the lead, this southern rock and blues band will get the summer concert series off to a rollicking start.

Tickets are available HERE.

Mary Chapin Carpenter | Sun Valley Pavilion, June 26th

Flatland is little aid to contemplation, and so Mary Chapin Carpenter has her own hill. It’s deep in the Virginia countryside, on a farm that she got for a song. Or rather, for a bunch of songs, and a way of singing and playing them that has taken her around the world and back home, over and again. Carpenter and those songs have traveled for thirty years, though the songs are the most frequent fliers. They spring from her head and hands, vibrate through tonewoods and six steel strings, then find their way into microphones. Then they go forth into the world - they’ve been doing that for thirty years now—even at times when their creator sits at the top of her hill and observes natural wonders both human-made and mysterious.

Just last week, a Saturday night dinner at the Ram Restaurant in Sun Valley Village seemed like a great idea. One member of our party was anxious to try the nightly $25 special of Hungarian Goulash, and an evening spent at the beautiful eatery, accompanied by live piano music, and noshing on delicious food sounded perfect. Our decision proved even more prescient when the server announced that the Ram was running a spring special: fondue for two (free!) with the purchase of any two entrees. It was a bubbling, gold prize at the end of the proverbial rainbow!
