For the true "gear head," Bald Mountain offers everything from challenging uphill climbs to extreme downhill switchbacks covering over 3,000 vertical feet. A five-mile trail system called the Sun Valley White Clouds hiking and biking trail is located directly across the street from the Sun Valley Lodge entrance. Take a hike around the nine-hole White Clouds golf course with beautiful views of the valley and nearby mountain ranges.
Idaho has four million acres of designated wilderness, the wildest state of all, with the exception of Alaska. If you want to get a taste of this beautiful state’s hiking and biking trails and other outdoor adventures but don’t know where to begin, stop by Pete Lane’s Mountain Sports Outdoor Adventure Center in the Village shop. You’ll be on the right track in no time!
Join one of our local Pete Lane’s staff members for an hour long beautiful hike on the adjacent White Cloud Trails which gives you stunning views of the Sun Valley area, the White Clouds Golf Course, Dollar Mountain and Bald Mountain in the background. Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
If you want to expand on the Welcome to Sun Valley Hike this is for you! More vertical, more views, and more miles. Enjoy old trees in the Witches woods on a thigh burning climb and beautiful wildflowers on your scenic descent. This is a moderate to advanced hike which will prepare you for any additional hikes you might embark upon during your stay. $29 adults/$19 kids. Tuesdays & Saturdays from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm.
This intermediate guided mountain bike ride will teach you proper riding etiquette and tips that will make you a better rider. In addition you will see great views and we will show you all the other great mountain bike trails in the area. Fun and moderately paced. 12 and under not recommended. great example of some of the many single track mountain biking trails you will find around the Sun Valley area. $39 per person, $10 for bike rental. Wednesdays & Sundays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Enjoy a leisurely tour on two wheels through Sun Valley…with a perfect ending…a taste of wine. This fun, relaxed guided tour gives your guests the lay of the land as well as insight into the rich history of the area. Cost is $39 person and an additional $10 for a bike. Thursday & Saturdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Our sister shop at the base of Bald Mountain rents bikes specifically designed for going downhill. Included in the $109 price is a 3000 foot uphill ride in our gondola to the top of Bald Mountain (along with your bike) and then miles of advanced mountain biking trails that bring you back to the base area. Plan for at least a half day adventure not for the faint-hearted!
