Tennis

The Sun Valley Tennis Center is within easy walking distance from the Lodge or the Inn. The tennis center is open to the public and offers a full-service Pro Shop, 17 courts, ball machine, group clinics and private lessons headed by Tennis Pro Mark Frisby.

Sun Valley is the home of the NIKE Tennis Camp for adults and children. Camp runs from mid-July through mid August. Register for your camp dates online and contact Sun Valley Hotel Reservations at 800-786-8259 for special lodging rates for participants.

For the true "gear head," Bald Mountain offers everything from challenging uphill climbs to extreme downhill switchbacks covering over 3,000 vertical feet. A five-mile trail system called the Sun Valley White Clouds hiking and biking trail is located directly across the street from the Sun Valley Lodge entrance.  Take a hike around the nine-hole White Clouds golf course with beautiful views of the valley and nearby mountain ranges. 

Pete Lanes Outdoor Advenutres

Idaho has four million acres of designated wilderness, the wildest state of all, with the exception of Alaska. If you want to get a taste of this beautiful state’s hiking and biking trails and other outdoor adventures but don’t know where to begin, stop by Pete Lane’s Mountain Sports Outdoor Adventure Center in the Village shop. You’ll be on the right track in no time!

    Join one of our local Pete Lane’s staff members for an hour long beautiful hike on the adjacent White Cloud Trails which gives you stunning views of the Sun Valley area, the White Clouds Golf Course, Dollar Mountain and Bald Mountain in the background. Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

    If you want to expand on the Welcome to Sun Valley Hike this is for you!  More vertical, more views, and more miles.  Enjoy old trees in the Witches woods on a thigh burning climb and beautiful wildflowers on your scenic descent.  This is a moderate to advanced hike which will prepare you for any additional hikes you might embark upon during your stay. $29 adults/$19 kids. Tuesdays & Saturdays from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm.

  • White Clouds Guided Mountain Bike Ride

    This intermediate guided mountain bike ride will teach you proper riding etiquette and tips that will make you a better rider.  In addition you will see great views and we will show you all the other great mountain bike trails in the area.  Fun and moderately paced.  12 and under not recommended. great example of some of the many single track mountain biking trails you will find around the Sun Valley area.  $39 per person, $10 for bike rental.  Wednesdays & Sundays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

    Enjoy a leisurely tour on two wheels through Sun Valley…with a perfect ending…a taste of wine.  This fun, relaxed guided tour gives your guests the lay of the land as well as insight into the rich history of the area.  Cost is $39 person and an additional $10 for a bike.  Thursday & Saturdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

  • Lift Accessed Downhill Mountain Biking

    Our sister shop at the base of Bald Mountain rents bikes specifically designed for going downhill. Included in the $109 price is a 3000 foot uphill ride in our gondola to the top of Bald Mountain (along with your bike) and then miles of advanced mountain biking trails that bring you back to the base area. Plan for at least a half day adventure not for the faint-hearted!

Sun Valley Stables

The Sun Valley Stables are located on Sun Valley Road, an easy walk or bike ride from Sun Valley Resort or Ketchum. Guided 1 hour or 1-1/2 hour rides on scenic Dollar Mountain. Group wagon rides also available by appointment.

Riders must arrive at the stables 20 minutes prior to ride for orientation. Children must be at least 8 years old & 52" tall, and must be accompanied by an adult.
*Ask us about summer wagon rides and winter sleigh rides to Trail Creek Cabin for dinner.

Kid's Day Camps

Summer in Sun Valley is the perfect time for children to enjoy our various activities. Besides a well-equipped playground, children enjoy all the recreational activities that Sun Valley is famous for. The program includes indoor/outdoor play, arts & crafts, gondola rides and ice skating. These and other activities are all carefully supervised by a well-trained, fully certified staff.

Sun Valley PlaySchool & KinderCare

The PlaySchool is year-round facility with child appropriate activities and play ground for children age 5 and under. Located conveniently in the Sun Valley Village near the Post Office. All day includes lucnch and all activities (ice skating, swimming, paddle boating, golf at the Sawtooth Putting Course, bowling, crafts, field games and supervision by carefully selected child-friendly personnel)except Friday's Hay Wagon Ride and picnic.

KinderCare is offered during the winter months at Carol's Dollar Mountain Lodge. 
This program offers both indoor and outdoor playtime, arts, crafts, bowling and ice skating.  Mini-ski lessons are also available at additional cost.  

Both summer and winter programs offer 2 hour, half-day and all-day rates for Ages 3 mos. - 5 years. Program and rates subject to change and weather permitting.

Reservations suggested and required during peak seasons. 48 hour cancellation policy (2hr charge for late cancellation)

Sun Valley Gun Club

The Sun Valley Gun Club is located one-and-a-half miles east of the Sun Valley Lodge across from the entrance to Trail Creek Cabin.  Our beautiful facility is ready to accommodate individuals or groups.

Beginners to sharp-shooters will be challenged at the Sun Valley Gun Club.  We offer Trap, Double Trap, Wobble Trap, Skeet, Duck Tower, 5-Stand and Sporting Clays. 

The Gun Club features Beretta shotguns and “light target load” ammo to minimize gun recoil. Each shooter is briefed on proper gun safety procedures.  Beginners welcome! 

Certified instructors are always available to assist the novice and the seasoned shooter.

Sun Valley Lake

You can't beat the fun and exercise at the coolest place in the valley. Rent a paddle boat and join in the fun on the water at the Sun Valley Lake. Or start up a game of Sand Volleyball or Horseshoes on the beach. Located a short walk from the Sun Valley Lodge & Inn.

 

Paddle Boat Rates: $12 - 1/2 Hour, $15 - 1 Hour

Age Limit: If you can wear a life vest, you may ride in the boat
