Sun Valley, ID. (November 13, 2025) —
Sun Valley Resort has been recognized as one of the "10 Best Ski Resorts in the U.S." in a Vogue article by Elise Taylor and Chadner Navarro, highlighting the resort's unique combination of world-class skiing, historic character, and authentic mountain town charm.
The article celebrated Sun Valley's storied legacy as America's oldest destination ski resort, developed in 1936 by the chairman of the Union-Pacific railroad "who wanted to build a mountain destination that rivaled those of the European Alps." Vogue noted that after years of searching, he found Ketchum, Idaho, where he built Sun Valley complete with the world's first chairlift—an innovation that revolutionized the sport.
As the resort approaches its 90th winter season, Vogue praised both its modern amenities and timeless appeal. With over 120 trails, high-speed lifts, and 90 acres of newly gladed terrain offering an expanded playground for advanced skiers, Sun Valley delivers technical excellence while maintaining the authentic character that has defined it for nearly nine decades.
Vogue also spotlighted the Sun Valley Lodge, calling it "the town's grande dame, and for good reason." The 108-room hotel features amenities including a 20,000-square-foot spa and bowling alley, and was a favorite getaway for Old Hollywood stars like Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, and Lucille Ball.
