Baldy is Gearing up for Summer Visitors
Sun Valley, Idaho (June 11, 2021) – Sun Valley Resort announced its summer 2021 operations today with a lineup of fun for the entire family, including outdoor adventures, mountain top dining, and an outdoor movie series. Family favorite summer events including Sun Valley on Ice, the Sun Valley Music Festival, and Ballet Sun Valley are returning!
The resort is excited to start running the Roundhouse Gondola and Christmas Chair on June 26 for lift-served hiking and biking. With an entire fleet of new mountain bikes available at Pete Lane’s and the hard work from the mountain team in preparing the trails, mountain biking enthusiasts are in for an exceptional season.
The gondola and chair will be open Thursdays through Mondays, from 9am-4pm, with lift tickets available online for a discounted price. Tickets can also be purchased at the River Run ticket office from 9am-3:30pm Thursday through Monday.
Bikers can rent enduro and downhill bikes on a first come, first serve basis at Pete Lane’s at River Run, opening on June 26, with operating hours of 9am-5pm Thursday through Monday. Path bikes will be available for rent at the Pete Lane’s Village store.
Please check the Summer Trails Report for trail conditions and openings throughout the summer due to elk calving and healthy forest initiative work.
The Roundhouse will also open for summer on June 26 and operate for lunch Thursdays through Mondays from 11am-3pm. The Roundhouse will provide fast casual service and guests will order at the host stand and have their food delivered to their table. Indoor and outdoor seating will be available. The Roundhouse is not taking reservations this summer, and dining is on a first come, first serve basis.
Yoga at River Run presented by Brass Ranch will commence on June 26 and run every Tuesday and Saturday at 9am through September 11. This free yoga class at River Run Plaza is great for people of all ages and skill levels. Yoga on the Mountain kicks off on July 11. Yogis of all levels are welcome to practice with skilled instructors at Lookout Lodge for $50. The price includes the class and lift pass to take guests up to breathtaking views.
The White House’s executive order mandating mask-wearing on all federal lands applies to Sun Valley’s Bald Mountain, which sits on US Forest Service land. Guests recreating on Bald Mountain must wear masks when unable to physically distance themselves from others.
