POWDER Spotlights Sun Valley's 90-Acre Gladed Terrain Expansion

Sun Valley, ID. (October 15, 2025) —

Sun Valley Resort has been featured in POWDER Magazine for the addition of 90 acres of new gladed terrain, marking a significant expansion as the resort celebrates its 90th winter season.

Located beneath the Roundhouse Express Gondola on Bald Mountain, the four new gladed runs span between the preexisting Canyon, Exhibition, and Olympic trails. POWDER highlighted the variety of the new terrain, which includes Bear Den, a black diamond run cutting through the trees between Olympic and Olympic Lane, and Sheep Camp, a new intermediate gladed run below Bear Den. The advanced Tim's and Pioneer Bowl trails wind through the trees straddling Exhibition.

The article noted that these new trails join more than 350 acres of gladed terrain added to Sun Valley's footprint over the past five years. While the resort has historically been best known for its long and cruisy groomed runs, POWDER emphasized that the new glades add exciting options for advanced skiers, similar to those found in the previously unveiled Sunrise area.

The latest glading project was created through the Bald Mountain Forest Stewardship Project, a collaboration between Sun Valley, the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the National Forest Foundation. The project reduces fire risk, improves forest health, and provides heating firewood to local indigenous communities. Sun Valley added that the new terrain represents "some of the most exciting advanced terrain on the mountain."
