Just last week, a Saturday night dinner at the Ram Restaurant in Sun Valley Village seemed like a great idea. One member of our party was anxious to try the nightly $25 special of Hungarian Goulash, and an evening spent at the beautiful eatery, accompanied by live piano music, and noshing on delicious food sounded perfect. Our decision proved even more prescient when the server announced that the Ram was running a spring special: fondue for two (free!) with the purchase of any two entrees. It was a bubbling, gold prize at the end of the proverbial rainbow!

The River Run Lodge is a pretty special setting for live music. With Baldy as the backdrop and the Big Wood River running behind the stage it is a magical venue to catch a concert.
That’s why the team at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, which puts on concerts at River Run Lodge each summer, works so hard to make sure the performers are as impressive as the setting. And they’ve got a good track record.
Over the years, the outdoor amphitheater has hosted some impressive and extremely popular acts like Wilco, Los Lobos, Bruce Hornsby, Bela Fleck and the Original Flecktones, the Avett Brothers and folks are still buzzing about the show Michael Franti and Spearhead put on a few years ago.
So it should come as no surprise that this summer’s line up is another strong one. Here a rundown of the series in August.
August 8th starting at 7pm
Regular Entry: $45 member / $55 nonmember
With her rich, deep voice, strong harmonies and a perfect touch of twang, Emmylou Harris has been a country music star for over 40 years. She can sing a love song with the best of them and can let her hair down, too. Emmylou’s shows are known for being as fun and well-rounded as her career has been.
After struggling as single-mom folk singer, Emmylou found her way to country music and found a massive fan base and loads of success. She has won 13 Grammy Awards, has sold over 15 million albums, played with the best in the business and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
A gifted entertainer, Emmylou’s concert at River Run is certain to be on this summer’s highlights.
Lake Street Dive & Gregory Alan Isakov
August 17 starting at 7pm
Regular Entry: $20 kids 12 & under, $40 member / $50 nonmember
“Motown meets the Beatles!” That’s how critics describe the unique and exceptionally fun sounds of Lake Street Dive. Founded by four New England Conservatory of Music students over a decade ago, the group has a big following for it’s rather eclectic offerings. Extremely popular on Youtube, the band features the trumpet, guitar, upright bass, drums and the tasty lead vocals of Rachael Price. Their unique skills and `60s flavor will get folks dancing.
Singer-song writer Gregory Alan Isakov has been touring since he was just 16. The accomplished troubadour was born in South Africa, raised in Philadelphia and first made a name for himself as a Coloradan. His inventive style is sure to be hit with music fans of all ages.
