Spoil your Mom on May 10

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and now is the time to make plans to honor the special mother in your life. For the woman who does so much for so many, Mother’s Day, on Sunday, May 10, is the perfect opportunity to show her just how much she is appreciated.  And Sun Valley is the perfect place to treat your mother, wife, sister or daughter to the perfect Mother’s Day celebration.

Ask moms what a real treat for Mother’s Day would be and many, if not most, will answer a special meal out with their family (and no cleanup!).  There is no better place to indulge than in Sun Valley. Two fantastic restaurants will offer brunch on Mother’s Day: the Konditorei in the Sun Valley Village and the Clubhouse at the Sun Valley Club.

For a truly special Mother’s Day, enjoy a bountiful brunch at the Konditorei in the Sun Valley Village.

Brunch at the Konditorei will be festive indeed. Beautiful floral arrangements bring springtime indoors and the food will be fabulous Expect traditional and innovative brunch items, drink specials and a surprise for every mother. Tasty treats include the savory -- Trout Benedict, Breakfast Schnitzel or Shaved Brussel Sprouts; and sweet – Bacon Waffles (kind of savory, too), Chocolate Chip Waffles or Crepes Suzette. Don’t forget the Build Your Own Bloody Mary bar that allows you to adjust the zing in your favorite brunch drink.  Be sure to be a part of this new local tradition!

Brunch will be served from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. and reservations will not be accepted for parties of fewer than eight people. For more information please call 208.622. 2235. Another reason to come in to the Konditorei? The restaurant is “going green”, working to reduce waste and to be more environmentally conscious. All disposable products will be plant-based plastics, post-consumer recyclable items, or compostable items. #KonditoreiCares.

Though the brunch menu at the Konditorei is comprehensive, be sure to save room for one of their famous handmade pastries for a sweet ending to a Mother’s Day celebration

Things will be equally festive at the Sun Valley Club, where Mother’s Day Brunch is offered by 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The view is glorious, the room welcoming and comfortable and the food will be equally great. Choose from a special a la carte menu.  Again, no reservations are accepted. For details, please call 208.622.2919.

The view is one of the big draws at the Sun Valley Club but the wonderful food is the star of the show. Enjoy a special Mother’s Day brunch in this lovely atmosphere

Stumped for the perfect gift for mom? Look no further than the Sun Valley Village. Whether she would love a beautiful accessory or spring dress, Panache and the Brass Ranch have you covered. Spring fashion is bright and beautiful and the selection right now is great. New gear for all mom’s fitness and outdoor needs are stocked and ready at Pete Lane’s and for another kind of hard goods, don’t miss the gorgeous jewelry at Towne & Parke Jewelers. Even the simple (and sweet) things will be greatly appreciated. The gift of fine chocolate from the Chocolate Foundry is sure to be a hit. A handmade card is also always cherished.

Spring fashions are gorgeous and you can surprise mom with a beautiful gift from one of the boutiques in the Sun Valley Village. For instance, the Brass Ranch is chock-a-block with treasures big and small

Mother’s Day has a long history in the United States, and many nations set aside a similar holiday to honor mothers. The American version of Mother’s Day is said to have been created by Anna Jarvis in 1908. In 1914, it became an official U.S. holiday. It is always a good reminder to appreciate the mothers in your life and all they do.

As a mother of three school-aged children, I do have one more suggestion: there is no better gift, prior to a fabulous, indulgent brunch, than being allowed to sleep in.

Happy Mother’s Day!

The holidays in Sun Valley are unique. From the snow-covered peaks (and ski runs!) that surround the Wood River Valley, to the old-fashioned charm of the Sun Valley Village and the decidedly European feel of the Resort, Christmas in Sun Valley is straight out of a beloved picture book. I have spent more than 30 Christmases in Sun Valley and while I certainly appreciate all that the Resort does to keep current (our amazing snowmaking and grooming, the gorgeous Lodge remodel, The Spa, and new
