For the mountain community, February has been like Christmas Day over and over again. The gift? Snowstorm after snowstorm dumping the wonderful white stuff to the tune of more than 100 inches of snow this month – a record since records started being kept decades ago. And the month isn’t over yet.
There has been so much snow atop Baldy that the Ski Patrol shack is literally buried What is a gift to recreationists, though, provides some pretty enormous challenges to the team keeping our winter white playground functioning and safe under extreme conditions. The outstanding men and women...
Perhaps you love The Ram Restaurant in the Sun Valley Village for dinner. They are known, after all, for the freshest gourmet fare, from prime cuts of meat to delicate fish: from inventive appetizers to decadent desserts. Tucking into one of the private booths at the rustic yet elegant restaurant is definitely one of my very favorite ways to unwind and enjoy.
The Ram has been a favorite at the Sun Valley Inn for years. Now they are offering breakfast and lunch seatings in addition to their famous dinners
Well now you can enjoy both hearty breakfasts and delicious lunches at this iconic Sun Valley eatery. If you want to start your day with a hot, healthy breakfast before heading out onto the slopes or take a break from holiday shopping with a lovely lunch, then be sure to put a stop at the Ram on your calendar.
Brett Buxton, The Ram Restaurant and Bar Manager is thrilled that the iconic restaurant is open to guests all day long. "We are excited about this chapter in The Ram's history," he said. "It's great to be able to serve Sun Valley visitors and locals in this way."
Buxton also stressed what he thinks is a wonderful about the new menus. "You certainly get a lot of bang for your buck," he said. "We offer big portions and top quality ingredients. We invite everyone to come over and enjoy a meal with us." To make this invitation even more appealing, Buxton said The Ram will offer a 20 percent discount on all menu items, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, through Sunday, December 14. Alcohol is excluded.
The Ram's Brett Buxton invites you to be his guest for a memorable meal. Come in to celebrate the holidays or just to try someplace 'new'
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I popped over to The Ram for lunch between strolling the Village shops collecting gift ideas. Our party of three was seated at a sunny booth by the window and treated to white linens and gleaming crystal that were elegant without being even slightly fussy. My nine-year-old son was with me and the atmosphere was very child friendly.
Our server for lunch was Daniela who welcomed us warmly and made sure to ask about our Thanksgiving. Sensing my son was starving (as always), she took our order in good time, sharing her recommendations. The menu offers something for everyone: from a light repast to a full meal. Starters include favorites like calamari with peppers and lemon basil aioli and artichoke and spinach dip. A full complement of salads includes those featuring salmon, kale, pickled beets, even a B.L.T. lettuce cup with house-made bacon, baby greens, vine ripened tomatoes, avocado and a creamy ranch dressing. Main courses include a quiche of the day, Canadian white cheddar 'mac and cheese', a hot salmon B.L.T. and other hot and cold wraps and sandwiches. Yum.
Our group decided on corn chowder and a fresh winter salad (me), the Cuban sandwich with hand-cut chips (my son) and -- a nod to brunch -- a ham and egg sandwich also served with chips (our friend). The soup was piping hot and full of flavor, as were the sandwiches. The salad was fresh and satisfying, especially following a heavy Thanksgiving meal the day before. Feeling satisfied and refreshed, we continued our day very pleased we found a great 'new' lunch spot.
The corn chowder comes adorned with fresh handmade chips and is full of flavor and perfect on a cold day
Breakfast at The Ram looks equally tempting and I can't wait to try it, as breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. From the menu, it looks as if I will need to eat at The Ram often to enjoy all of the savory and sweet offerings. From omelet Florentine, to traditional Eggs Benedict, a healthy egg white frittata and almond and cinnamon French Toast roulade, there are many tempting choices. For the lighter appetite, The Ram also offers a la carte items like homemade English muffins, bagels and cream cheese, eggs, ham, bacon and potatoes.
Of course, The Ram remains a very special place for an evening meal, a glass of wine and relaxed conversation. With a soft soundtrack played by piano maestro Larry Harshbarger, enjoy USDA prime steak so tender you can cut it with a fork, locally-sourced and ultra fresh Idaho foods, an extensive wine menu, creative cocktails and much more. Candlelight and a very welcoming room add to a memorable night with friends or family or a special date.
There is a designated children's breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, as well, for the little ones. Choices for breakfast include favorites like eggs and ham (or bacon or sausage), pancakes, French Toast and oatmeal. For lunch, those 12 and under can dine like kings or queens on chicken tenders, sliders, exceptional mac 'n' cheese and simple pasta.
No matter what you are looking for, be sure to enjoy a meal at The Ram: breakfast, lunch or dinner.
For dinner reservations, please call 208-622-2225 or book at opentable.com. Breakfast items are served from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner reservations are accepted between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
