Henry Diltz

Join SVMoA for an intimate evening with Henry Diltz, official photographer of Woodstock 1969, 1994, and 1999. Before picking up a camera, Diltz was a musician with the folk group Modern Folk Quartet — a background that gave him rare access and trust within the LA music scene of the 1960s and 70s. That access resulted in some of the most iconic images in music history, gracing hundreds of album covers and capturing legends like Joni Mitchell, The Doors, and Crosby, Stills & Nash.

In this story-driven presentation, Diltz shares the tales behind his photographs with an easygoing, often funny style — offering a genuine, firsthand window into a defining era of music and culture. Presented in connection with the Circa 1971 exhibition, this program brings the people, music, and creative energy of the early 1970s vividly to life.
