The Sun Valley Ski & Ride School understands that your first ski lesson is not just a lesson. Whether you're a first-time skier or ready to take your skills to the next level, we're here to make sure your time on the slopes is unforgettable. Our team of experienced instructors is dedicated to not only teaching you the ropes but ensuring you have a blast while doing it.

To make sure you feel prepared for your lesson, we compiled a guide of our best tips & tricks for ensuring a great lesson and day on the mountain.

Prior to Arrival

Make sure you sign your Waiver

You may have signed this when you booked your lesson, but if you can't remember or what to be extra sure, go ahead and sign it!

Check your Lift Access

When booking a lesson, you have the option to purchase lift access with it. Check your confirmation email to see if you're all set. If you plan to use a season pass or already purchased a ticket, you can check that its ready to use on-mountain by using our Sun Valley Pass Checker. If you need to purchase a ticket or pass, you can do that online ahead of time!

Get Geared Up

Our rental team will make sure you're ready for your lesson. Rental reservations should be made 48 hours prior to pick up. Our rental team is ready to assist at River Run, Warm Springs and Dollar base areas.

For group lessons, please plan on arriving at least 30 minutes early.

Dollar Bears, Teens and AM Adults: 9:00am
Dollar Cubs: 9:30am
Dollar PM Adults: 12:30pm

Please allow extra time if you need to pick up rental equipment.

Where to Go

If you have any questions about where to park or check in our friendly Guest Services team is always there to assist. They can be identified by a bright yellow jacket.

For lessons starting at River Run, please check in with our Ski & Ride School staff wearing blue jackets and pants located either at our Podium located just across the bridge or at our Sales Desk located in the River Run Day Lodge to your left across the bridge. Please use one of our large upper lots for parking, as the lower lot is parking by permit only.

For lessons at Dollar, please check-in at the Ski & Ride School Podium located outside of the main entrance to Carol's Dollar Mountain Day Lodge on Elkhorn Rd. If you need to go into the lodge to grab a bite to eat, watch your kiddo start out their lesson, or if you need rental equipment, please park in the lower lot and make your way up to the top floor of the lodge where most of our services are located.

For lessons starting at Warm Springs, please check in with our Ski & Ride School staff wearing blue jackets and pants. You will find them at our Sales Desk located at the Warm Springs Day Lodge outside next to the Ticketing Window. Please use the Greyhawk Parking Lot when visiting Warm Springs Lodge.
