Sun Valley Resort To Host 2024 Toyota U.S. Alpine Championships Presented by Stifel

For the Second Year in a Row, Historic Resort Welcomes Top Athletes Vying for Position on US National Team

Sun Valley, ID (Jan. 23, 2024) – Sun Valley Resort is proud to host the Toyota U.S. Alpine Championships presented by Stifel for the second year in a row, kicking off March 20, 2024. The alpine racing event, which runs March 20-24, welcomes elite Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team athletes and next-generation ski racers and is the final elite competition of the season.

Sun Valley will welcome both men and women competing in super-G, giant slalom and slalom events. The course in Sun Valley has a storied history of alpine racing, having hosted the U.S. Alpine Championships previously in 2023, 2018, and 2016, and has tested hundreds of local and visiting athletes with its technical and challenging terrain over the years. The award-winning grooming and slope steepness contribute to the long list of merits that make Sun Valley the perfect choice for this event.

“We are thrilled to welcome back the Toyota U.S. Alpine Championships presented by Stifel for the second year running, hosting some of the nation’s fastest alpine racers and up-and-comers in the prestigious culmination of their season’s hard work,” said Pete Sonntag, Sun Valley Resort GM and VP. “Sun Valley Resort is rich in ski racing history, from the first Harriman Cup in 1937 to our first FIS World Cup in 1977, and we’re excited to keep the legacy of ski racing alive as we welcome back the Toyota U.S. Alpine Championships.”

The week of races will begin with the men’s and women’s super-G events on Wednesday, and an awards ceremony to follow at the Grayhawk finish. Thursday marks the super-G championship races followed by awards and the official opening ceremony in Ketchum Town Square from 4:30-7:30pm. Men’s and women’s giant slalom races will take place on Friday and Saturday respectively. Sunday concludes the five days of racing with both men’s and women’s slalom events.

From Friday-Sunday, the Warm Springs Plaza will have a Vendor Village set up from 9am-4pm, apres ski music from 2-5pm as well as athlete signings throughout the weekend. See the full schedule of events here

Plus it is a great opportunity for our up-and-coming athletes to ski amongst our national team members.”

“I’m super excited for the U.S. Alpine Championships to be back in Sun Valley,” said Stifel U.S. Ski Team athlete Jack Smith. “World Cup-level ski racing belongs in Sun Valley and it’s incredible to see that happening in our valley.”
