Sun Valley's Locals Youth Programs develop young skiers and snowboarders from beginners to confident mountain explorers. Our season-long offerings include Little Spuds (ages 3–5) and the 5B Ski & Ride Club (ages 6–14). Designed for Blaine County locals, our youth programs build technical skills, confidence, and the foundation for years of mountain adventures.

Dollar Mountain is where Sun Valley stories start—and Little Spuds is the perfect first chapter. Designed for our youngest locals, this program introduces 3- to 5-year-olds to the joy of skiing in a safe, supportive, and playful environment. With gentle slopes, open terrain, and a fun-focused approach, Dollar offers the ideal setting for building balance, confidence, and early skills.
Children must be potty trained and ready to participate. Please arrive with properly fitted boots, skis, a helmet, and goggles.
Little Spuds is offered in two 4-week blocks during the season:
Choose your day! Sessions take place on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, with morning (9:30–11:30 AM) and afternoon (1:00–3:00 PM) options available.

From first turns to advanced lines, skiers and riders will develop the skills to adapt to any terrain, maintain balance and confidence, move with intention, flow effortlessly down the mountain, and express their unique style. More than just skills, participants will build the foundation of a lifelong passion for skiing and snowboarding.
*This program will replace Spuds, Freeride, and AMP.
